FAQ
Q: What is STEP?
STEP is a summer canvassing and discipleship program! We go door-to-door distributing Christian literature on a donation basis, and provide interactive classes on topics like defending your faith, the gospel, how to study the Bible, and so much more!
Q: Who can join?
Any male or female who is at least 16 years of age or older, who has a love for Jesus, and is willing to make an eight-week commitment to work hard and serve Jesus. If you are under 16 years old, but have canvassed before or have significant work experience, you may qualify for an exemption. For more details, contact us at contact@stepcanvassing.org
Q: How long is STEP?
8 weeks. It usually begins in early June and ends the first week of August. For the summer of 2026, the program will be from June 7th through August 2nd.
Q: Is this a paid program?
Yes! Participants earn a commission on the literature they sell. Earnings vary depending on effort and area, but participants typically earn between $3,000–$6,000+ over the course of the summer. This covers housing, meals, and provides personal income.
Q: Where will we be based?
For 2026, we will be based in Hayden Lake, Idaho, staying at the local SDA church while working alongside the congregation to reach the surrounding community.
Q: What do we sell/distribute?
Participants distribute Christian literature including books like The Great Controversy, Steps to Christ, The Desire of Ages, and other gospel-focused materials. These are offered to community members on a donation basis.
